Department of Indigenous Affairs Annual Reports

 Leading Agency Framework

In broad terms, the Lead Agency Framework is where assistance or coordination for a proposal is done by one department, or "the lead agency". The Lead Agency Framework applies to all resource, infrastructure, transport, large scale land and housing proposals and developments.

The Lead Agency Framework operates by nominating a single agency responsible for case management or through an identified case manager within the lead agency. It also provides assistance in scoping the proposal upfront and determining the approvals required, as well as setting indicative timeframes.
