Providing advice and policy development

The Department provides advice to Government on the adequacy, implementation and coordination of services to Aboriginal people in Western Australia. It also leads policy development on key issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal Western Australians and across-government strategies to improve program planning and coordination. The Department operates within the parameters of the Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Act 1972 for the purpose of achieving the economic, social and cultural aspirations of Aboriginal people.
