THEY SERVED WITH HONOUR: AN EXHIBITION
The Exhibition was a collaboration between Edith Cowan University (ECU) and the Department of Aboriginal Affairs to commemorate ANZAC Centenary 2015—2018
Held at Edith Cowan University Joondalup Art Gallery | 26 April—22 June 2016
They Served With Honour (TSWH): An Exhibition is a collaboration between ECU and the Department that draws upon the Department's publication TSWH, which have come to significantly re-shape Western Australia’s historical landscape and the country’s war narrative.
The Exhibition was opened by the Honourable Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, Ken Wyatt, AM MP, of Noongar/Yamatji/Wongai heritage who unveiled a special artwork by Noongar contemporary artist Peter Farmer, a descendant of Kenneth Farmer who served in WWI.
These stories have been set alongside a selection of ECU's artworks by contemporary Noongar artists, transcending time to celebrate shared histories and cultures in line with this year’s 2016 Reconciliation Week message Our History, Our Story, Our Future. It acknowledges the outstanding contributions and achievements made by the WA Aboriginal community, ensuring these living stories transcend a further 100 years for future generations to come.
